Instalación de drivers para lector de tarjetas SD/MMC desde el arranque

Hola a todos:

Como imaginaréis soy primerizo en el uso de Linux en general. El primer problema con el que me he encontrado es con uno común entre varios usuarios: un lector de tarjetas SD/MMC interno que solo es detectado por el sistema cuando se arranca con una tarjeta introducida.

Mi equipo es una laptop HP Pavilion dv4-2014la. La distribución de Linux que tengo instalada es la Ubuntu 10.10, y el kernel es 2.6.35-25-generic. El dichoso lector de tarjetas es un 5-en-1 de JMicron.

Navegando, navegando, ya he visto que el problema es generalizado, pero ninguna de las soluciones parece ser adecuada para mi caso. Al menos, he aprendido algunas cosillas. Los módulos que parecen controlar el lector son:

sdhci
sdhci-pci
mmc-block
jmb38x-ms
memstick

Ya digo que arrancando con la tarjeta insertada, el sistema me reconoce y me monta el dispositivo sin problemas, manteniéndose instalado aunque lo desmonte (puedo volver a meter una tarjeta y el sistema me lo vuelve a montar sin problemas).

Arrancando sin la tarjeta, he probado a cargar los módulos con modprobe desde la terminal, pero sigue sin reconocerme el dispositivo; también he modificado el archivo /etc/modules para que me cargase los módulos al arrancar -se supone que este archivo es para eso, ¿no?-, y tampoco me lo reconoce.

Pues eso, que a ver si puedo entender cómo hacerlo. Gracias a todos de antemano. Seguidamente os doy la salida de dmesg con el sistema arrancado con la tarjeta. No lo he puesto antes, para no embarullonar demasiado mi mensaje.

Bueno, pues al final ya he podido solucionarlo. [mode ironic on]Vaya avalancha de respuestas[mode ironic off]. El caso es que creo que ya intenté esta solución, no lo sé muy bien. Lo único que ha cambiado en mi Ubuntu es que ahora tengo el kernell 2.6.35-28. La solución está en este post del blog Ubuntu Cosillas:

Editamos el archivo grub desde una terminal:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

- Buscamos la siguiente línea:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

- La cambiamos por esta otra:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pciehp.pciehp_force=1"
- Guardamos los cambios, y una vez cerrado actualizamos el grub:
sudo update-grub

No tengo ni idea de lo que acabo de hacer, no sé qué hace esa variable. Lo ando buscando por aprender lo que he hecho realmente. Tampoco entiendo por qué no funcionaba cargando los módulos con modprobe. Si alguien puede explicarlo.

El mayor problema/reto que Linux tiene es que muchos de los fabricantes de tarjetas madres tienen contratos con microshow para hacerle la vida dificil a linux, y de ahí viene que con diferentes marcas son diferentes los problemas que encontrarás en linux.

La variable que modificastes es la encargada de cargar la imagen que dice UBUNTU con fondo purpura al inicio de el arranque.
Tambien sirve para mas cosas, pero no te las puedo explicar yo, ya que no tengo mucho conocimiento en el funcionamiento de estas variables.

Antes que nada, te quiero felicitar, ya que si es cierto que eres tan novato en linux como lo dices, veo que vas por muy buen camino, esta muy bien lo que hicistes, pero lo podemos hacer de otra manera tambien

en la terminal ejecuta esto;
gksudo gedit /etc/fstab/

y pega aqui el contenido de el archivo.

ya que la variable que modificastes se usa para algo diferente, y te puede causar mas problemas mas adelante.

Gracias por el tiempo que te estás tomando con mi problema. Para que no te devanes mucho los sesos innecesariamente voy a aclararte un par de cosas que creo que no estás tomando en cuenta. Primero, se trata de un lector interno que creo que es un dispositivo PCI, no USB. Pero de todas formas te pongo más abajo la salida del lsusb. Segundo, el problema era que el SO no veía el dispositivo por ningún lado -ni con el Device Manager- si no arrancaba con una tarjeta introducida.

Ahora, ahí va lo que me pides. Ambas salidas son después de haber borrado el comando pciehp.pciehp_force=1 del /etc/default/grub:

es por eso que te pedí esa salida.

lo ultimo que te pido es la salida de lspci a la mejor tenemos suerte con este comando y aparece listada, ya que no la veo por ningun lado en las otras salidas

y por lo que encontré ahí es que Microshow no esta dando soporte a ese lector de tarjetas para nadie mas que no sea Microshow.

es por eso que tenemos este problema, aún ando en la busqueda

Encontré la respuesta, y cuando le dí enviar, me dió error de conección y perdí todo, pero ya lo encontré otra vez!

mira, olvidate de todo lo que estabamos haciendo, lo que vamos a hacer es lo siguiente;

en la terminal;

dmesg | grep mmc

para que veas si la pc ve el dispositivo.

luego, lo vea o no lo vea haz esto;

gksudo gedig /etc/modprobe.d/dv4-2014la-cardreader.conf (le pudimos haber puesto; blasfemo-conf e igual funcionaba)

luego le agregas la siguiente linea;
options sdhci debug_quirks=0x40
guardas y cierras

luego en la terminal vamos a recargar los modulos;
rmmod sdhci_pci
rmmod sdhci
modprobe sdhci

y por ultimo!
sudo update-initramfs -u

reinicias y me avisas si te funcionó! ok, ya que si funciona, quiere decir que me voy al cielo! jejejeje.

Pero, desgraciadamente, no funcionó la solución. Tampoco aparece nunca en el listado de lspci, salvo cuando modifico el archivo del grub. Tampoco salen por ningún lado del dmesg el los módulos mmc.

Después de hace casi un año, la solución de modificación del GRUB ya no me funcionaba en Ubuntu 11.04 y el thread más activo del Launchpad sigue congelado. Hoy, me he encontrado con que, al menos para mi notebook HP Pavilion dv4-2014la y para una dv6-1238es, el problema está en una configuración de ahorro de energía para el lector de tarjetas en la BIOS de estos equipos. Todo ello gracias a Manuel Mateos en su blog.

Como le he dicho en los comentarios de su blog, si es una cuestión de la configuración de la BIOS, supongo que tarde o temprano los desarrolladores del kernel o de Canonical conseguirán que estos lectores de tarjetas funcionen de forma normal, con o sin ahorro de energía, como lo hace Windows.
