Disco duro externo que no lo reconoce ni puedo usar, (contiene informacion importante y que no quisiera perder)

Hola , como incluyo en el titulo tengo un disco duro de 320Gb externo con conexión usb, el cual he utilizado para guardar información que no quería que se perdiese por lo cual toda la información que he querido guardar desde hace tiempo esta en el .
Hace poco quise guardar toda la información de un sistema operativo para lo cual utilice el comando dd y desde entonces el disco duro no es reconocido por ninguno de mis ordenadores, (todos los que tengo los tengo con Ubuntu).
El caso es que se que hay programas para recuperar información de un disco duro pero al no saber bien utilizar sus comandos no me he atrevido ha hacerlo para no liarla mas .
El disco duro es de WD y el sistema de archivos es ext4 y su capacidad es de 320 Gb.
Por favor si alguien me puede indicar un programa para poder gestionar y recuperar la información contenida en este disco lo agradecería si es posible con interfaz gráfica mejor o en su defecto con los comandos que debería utilizar en el programa que fuese.

tengo que decir que tambien en este momento esta conectado por usb un pendrive que es el que identifica como ID 0781:5566 SanDisk Corp. aparte de el ratón y teclado ID 046d:c505 Logitech, Inc. Cordless Mouse+Keyboard Receiver.
Pero como se puede ver el disco de WD de 320Gb no esta, tampoco aparece en la utilidad de discos de la que esta dotado el SO.

Aunque creo que no ayuda en nada en este caso tan solo he borrado las mac de las tarjetas de red.

Por favor si alguno me podéis ayudar lo agradecería porque es aquí donde tengo guardadas todas las fotos, documentos, etc. y no puedo perderlos

dd es un programa que copia datos de un disco a otro, copia tablas de partición y demás opciones...

No se como lo usaste pero pinta mal.

El mal uso de dd no debería impedir que el disco aparezca con lsusb. Eso me sugiere más bien un fallo del dispositivo.

Tal vez te sirva de algo, ya que fdisk parecía no reconocer el disco y creo que al final estaba roto.. pero échale un ojo a ver que te sugiere.

Te comento un caso que me paso a mí con un disco WD por usb que uso para copias de seguridad.
Haciendo una de tantas me tira error ,y nada me empezó a dar por el saco.Total copie todos los archivos de el al disco duro del pc y lo desarme (ojo la parte del circuito integrada )dejando el disco duro para conectar por ide.
Y cuando lo quiero usar lo conecto con un lector de discos duros :

debido a que es un disco duro de respaldo ,solo tu eres el responsable de las medidas que tomes.
foremost ,TestDisk son unas herramientas maravillosas.
Pero como te comentan compañeros el comando DD es de cuidado ,hay que usarlo con ojo pero no impediría el ver el contenido del disco..

dd es tan poderoso que puede cambiar la alineación de una partición si no tuviste cuidado de especificar los tamaños correctos de bloque y sector, en este caso, si por error usaste un path absoluto (dev o hd), entonces lo mas seguro es que hayas dañado el primer sector del disco y por eso no te lo reconoce como tal o bien, puede que se haya corrompido la tabla y en este caso lo que sugiere nacho (conectar por sata o ide, según el caso) puede ayudarte a acceder al disco, pero por usb ya no, a menos que le apliques formato a bajo nivel (la única forma de recuperar un Dispositivo de almacenamiento dañado por una errónea utilización de dd).

Hace poco quise guardar toda la información de un sistema operativo para lo cual utilice el comando dd y desde entonces el disco duro no es reconocido por ninguno de mis ordenadores, (todos los que tengo los tengo con Ubuntu).
