http://www.ubuntu-es.org/index.php?q=node/36732#comment-96209

01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RC410 [Radeon Xpress 200]

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

veras una seccion como esta:

Section "Device"
Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]"
Driver "fglrx"
Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]"
Driver "fglrx"
Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
BusID "PCI:1:5:0"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Radeon 9200 Pro"
Driver "ati"
BusID "PCI:3:0:0"
EndSection

Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"

Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Radeon 9200 Pro"
Driver "ati"
Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
BusID "PCI:3:0:0"

Section "Device"
Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]"
Driver "fglrx"
BusID "PCI:3:0:0"
Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
EndSection

display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON XPRESS Series Generic
OpenGL version string: 2.0.6011 (8.28.8)

Adelante!!!

# sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

bien una vez abierto iremos a:
Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Technologies, Inc. Radeon X700 SE (RV410)" --> dejar loque venga por defecto
Driver "radeon" --> cambiar vesa por radeon
Option "DRI" "true" --> añadir
BusID "PCI:1:0:0" --> dejar como esta
Option "EnablePageFlip""true" -->añadir todos hasta abajo
Option "ColorTiling""on"
Option "UseFBDev" "true"
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "RenderAccel" "true"
Option "AGPFastWrite" "on"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "L1715S"
Option "DPMS"
HorizSync 30-83 -->añadir frecuencia horizontal
VertRefresh 56-75--> añadir frecuencia vertical
EndSection

reinicamos X
con esto ya os deberia dejar.

bien ahora comprobaremos si tenemos DRI (direct rendering o aceleracion grafica)

abrimos un consola y escribimos.
glxinfo |grep render

deberia responder algo asi

direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R300 20060815 TCL

# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
