Player closes, either totem or vlc (SOLVED)

Question:

After getting the installation and having the effects of compiz activated, nothing else to install, I get to play a movie in totem, but the player closes abruptly.

I execute it from the terminal and it gives me the following error. And yes, if I have compiz enabled in the plugin that lets you watch videos.

the error wa ‘BadAlloc (insufficient resource for operation) 0
(detail: seriel 83 error_code 11 request_code 140 minor_code19)
note programmers: normally, x errors are repoted asynchronously; …

finally I read that there change the driver with the totem, I’ve been watching and preferences but nothing comes there, someone knows what is the configuration file totem to change it through the terminal?

Does something like this happen to someone?

Thank you.

If good install the Vlc player, also very good, but the problem is not the player. Let me explain: I have installed ubuntu 8.10, I have not activated any driver for the Ati x1600, but I have 3d acceleration, that is, I can enable exo compiz to be active, but when I installed everything (codecs, programs) I gave it to play a movie and the REPRODUCTOR CLOSES ONLY in the first second.

Then, compiz moves it well the system, but it deactivates it and it returned to reproduce the film and thus it reproduces it.

CONCLUSION: something goes wrong in the players when playing with compiz, maybe you have to configure something.

Through the network I read that in the Mplayer the same thing happened to him and was to change a video driver the ‘drv’ for the ‘x11’ and it was fixed.
The case is that I have not installed Mplayer, the same I install it to test this, but I would like to apply this to Totem to see what is the problem of that video driver.

In order I will continue searching and testing.

Thank you.

UPDATE

I have installed the Mplayer and I have changed the video mode for the other one, as indicated above and if it is already playing. But (there is always a but) the video flickers and when you put it in full screen it turns all black but the video looks just as small.

I will continue inventing.

To think that life will be good to you for being a good person is like believing that a lion will not eat you because you are a vegetarian.

Best Answer:

I also solved my problem but with a small variant.

I opened the vlc without any files. I went to the “Tools” tab and from there to “Preferences”.

In the video options, change the “output” option by setting “openGL” as an option, since I have an nvidia board.

Now the vcl is perfect.

Thanks again. I hope it serves you.

Greetings.

Distribution: ubuntu 9.10
