Hola a todos, ayuda con CUPS en ubuntu, no me logea.

Hola por favor!! alguien a cponseguido hacer funcionar CUPS desde http://localhost:631 como root, o administrador para poder
configurar una impresora laser en red, con dos equipos ubuntu dapper + SAMBA + CUPS 1.1.99rc3. Desde local imprimo sin problemas
pero desde remoto usando ipp me dice impresion pausada,(ESTOY ENPEZANDO A CREER QUE EL ERROR ESTA EN EL LOGEO DE ROOT EN CUPS DESDE LA WEB). y si uso smb me dice esto el error.log del equipo cliente.

Antes con la versión 5.10 de ubuntu funcionaba la mar de bien, yo tengo una red con 2 maquinas Ubuntu 6.06 (una de ellas tiene 2 impresoras conectadas una vía lpt1 y la otra por USB) y otra maquina en Windows XP y desde que he actualizado a Dapper ya no puedo imprimir en red ni desde el terminal linux ni desde el de windows, antes si lo hacía sin ningún problema. Al igual que tu puedo imprimir sin problemas localmente, pero no hay forma de hacerlo en red :-( en fin habrá que ir investigando a ver que encontramos. no hay manera de entrar a localhost:631 ni como root ni con otro usuario, mire la web de cups he hice lo que dicen pero no hay manera de acceder. Igual alguna revisión nos permite hacerlo. Segura que para la versión definitiva funciona o nos dicen como hacerlo.

Estoy seguro que el problema es de CUPS, y no se yo si tendra algo que ver tambien inetd. Pero no obstante si se puediera probar a instar una version anterior de CUPS pero por ejemplo de la Hoary o la breezy. Bueno como tu dices, a esperar a una revision o a la version final estable.

Es tan sencillo como "activar" el usuario root
@sudo bash
..
#passwd
...

y añadir el usuario cupsys al grupo "shadows", con lo cual damos acceso al demonio al fichero de contraseñas... y después reiniciamos el demonio
#/etc/init.d/cupsys restart

Hola, gracias por el consejo, ya consigo instalar en modo local mi laser, y tambien que cups me deje entrar con mi usuario del sistema, tachaaaannnn!! cosa que antes ni tu tia entraba. pero me ocurre una cosa. Mi impre esta enchufada via usb, dev/usb/lp0. Bien el cups me dice esta URI:usb://Brother/HL-1430%20series, asi me la reconoce el cups, pero cuando me voy al equipo de red portatil, le doy a cups, le digo que es una impresora de red, le doy el URI:ipp://Brother/HL-1430%20series, me dice que esta Busy (ocupada), pero es mentira esta esperando a que alguien imprima. Creo que estoy dando el URI mal y no se como ponerlo ya he probado mil cosas, hasta con paralelo y me dice los mismo. Si la instalo via samba, me pide un usuario y passwd de mi red linux que se llama workgroup = redlinux, me reconoce el equipo que comparte, me reconoce la impre como HL-1430, pero al intentar imprimir, me dice impresion pausada, y no hace nada, ademas en la cola se me estan acumulando los trabajos, como los quito, ya hay 58. ayudaaaaaa!! gracias Linuxeros. :-)

Yo tenia el problema que me pedia siempre el usuario y no sabia cual es, lo solucione cambiando la linea que dice SystemGroup lpadmin por SystemGroup admin. En mi caso tengo mi usuario comun dentro del grupo admin.
# vi /etc/group
admin:x:112:sergio

La impresora me la detecto sola (es una epson usb)
