Problema al intentar iniciar mysql server, ayuda con scrypt de inicio

Hola,

A ver si podéis ayudarme...

Tenia instalado ubuntu 10.10 y actualice a la versión 11.04, 11.10 y finalmente a la 12.04

Al intentar iniciar el servidor de mysql, en la version 10.10, iniciaba automaticamente con el script que pego mas abajo, bueno ese no, se modifico al actualizar, me sale este mensaje

/etc/init.d/mysql start

Busque por internet y realice el intento de iniciar el servicio...
sudo service mysql start
start: Job failed to start

Y también...

sudo start mysql
start: Job failed to start

Finalmente conseguí iniciarlo con este comando...
sudo su
mysqld -u mysql

Creo que no es el código correcto pero al mirar en el script que inicia tengo
