Ubuntu UEFI y arranque dual con Windows 8

Hola a tod@s.

Levo varios días intentando instalar en mi máquina (que tiene instalado Windows 8) la versión 12.10 de Ubuntu (64 bits) con la intención de seleccionar desde el GRUB qué SO iniciar como había hecho en anteriores máquinas que he tenido.

Cuál ha sido mi sorpresa, debido a mi desconocimiento cuando me he topadop con el famoso sistema UEFI, el cual impide, por lo que he leido que el GRUB se inicie y me de la opción de arrancar el SO que elija.

He conseguido instalar Ubuntu sin problema, pero no he conseguido ni siquiera arrancar Ubuntu, ya que siempre inicia Windows 8 sin darme ninguna otra opción.

He leido que con Boot Repair es posible conseguir lo que me propongo, pero al iniciar no me atrevo a hacer nada más qe un informe del arranque de mi computadora, con el objeto de que algún alma caritativa se apiade de mi y me instruya en un área en el que soy bastante nuevo.

Tengo una partición NTFS con Windows 8 de 656 GB, otra partición NTFS con datos de 36GB y la partición donde tengo Ubuntu 20GB con su correspondiente partición swap de 6GB.

También creo que es importante apuntar que cambié el modo de arranque de UEFI a Legacy para arrancar el Boot Repair.

Tengo la esperanza de que alguien pueda decirme si ve algo raro en la tabla de particiones, cómo podría conseguir hacer funcionar el grub como funcionaba en mi antigua máquina con Vista y Ubuntu 9.

Gracias Gabriel, únicamente decirte que busqué en google y encontré otros post que no me aclararon demasiado. Intentaré buscar más a fondo la próxima vez y seguiré las instrucciones de este post. Espero que me lleven a buen camino.
