¿Cómo hago en LUBUNTU 13.04 para que me muestre correctamente mi resolución de pantalla?

Tengo un PC con un procesador de video NVIDA GeForce 7025/nForce 630a, con VBios version 05.61.32.28.01, el monitor es un Benq GL930A. Instalé Lubuntu 13.04 y descargué el driver privativo 304.88. Ahora bien, ni con el driver genérico ni con este (que debería ser perfecto) logro ver bien la pantalla. ¿El motivo? No tengo la resolución 1366x768 sino la 1368x768, ¿qué pasa? Que las letras se ven borrosas y la calidad de las imágenes no es buena. En sí, ¿cómo mandar que, en todo momento, la resolución sea de 1366x768? Igualmente con la frecuencia, a veces me la pone en 60Hz, otras en 58.8Hz, otras veces en más (y la pantalla se estrecha), ¿cuál sería la correcta para mi monitor y cómo definirla?

Fijate en la captura de mi mensaje anterior, no hay nitidez en las letras y ni hablar de la frecuencia de "refresco", está todo escoñetado el video!

es la 1368x768 y punto, es todo lo que te puede ofrecer el driver de tu gráfica y las capacidades de tu monitor o pantalla.

Más bien ese no es problema de la resolución , es problema del hinting que estas usando e igulamente de los puntos por pulgada.

Prueba creando un archivo (con permisos de root) en /etc/X11/Xresources/fons-default

Este archivo debe contener lo siguiente:

Xft.dpi: 96
Xft.antialias: true
Xft.hinting: true
Xft.rgba: rgb
Xft.autohint: false
Xft.hintstyle: hintslight
Xft.lcdfilter: lcddefault

Y no toques nada más, reinicia.

Gracias por las aclaratorias. En realidad estaba buscando más información y salió ese post. Disculpa.

En efecto, estimado José Luis, también pensé lo mismo, obvio, no sabía como hacerlo, pero hice todo tal cual indicas pero sigue la pantalla borrosa... Mira http://box.jisko.net/i/4f7e3ccd.png que es una captura del terminal.

Pero no son las letras, es toda la pantalla que intenta ajustarse a 1366 y distorsiona los píxeles, por eso mi interés en que muestre 1366 peeeeerroooooo leyendo más por allí, voy a probar con 1360...

Estaré relatando que pasará. Alguna sugerencia adicional, la agradezco inmensamente.

Abre una terminal y ejecuta:

sudo su
apt-get update
apt-get install nvidia-xconfig
nvidia-xconfig

La resolución correcta, aceptada por esa tarjeta con ese driver es:
1360x768

las letras se ven mucho mejor que en tu imagen anterior.

Yo creo que ese ya es problema del monitor, debes ajustarlo para que te muestre correctamente la salida, pero la resolución esta bien. yo no veo ningún problema en tu captura.

... es tu monitor, usa una resolución no estándar. Las imágenes que has puesto se ven bien, pero las ves feas por que están escaladas (en tu monitor).

Muestra acá el contenido del archivo /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

Parece que la versiones recientes del controlador de la gráfica Nvidia permiten el uso de resoluciones que no son multiplos de 8, si quieres leer aquí hay algo que te puede servir (en inglés):

Lo malo es que no parece fácil.

Muchas gracias Gabriel, José Luis y rioport.

Precisamente lo que me indica Gabriel lo hice al recién instalar Lubuntu para aprovechar toda la aceleración y texturizado perfecto que me ofrezca la tarjeta de vídeo.

Ahora bien, tal como lo indica rioport, si bien al parecer Uds ven bien las capturas, efectivamente, y ahora más entiendo, lo que se despliega en mi pantalla está escalado.

Leí lo que me indicó rioport y me puse a leer el manual de mi Benq GL930 pero ningún dato técnico aparece, sólo sugerencias y especificaciones básicas, en web no ubico mayor información.

En efecto, sin más info, es tedioso poner esa resolución...

Decidí entonces volver y probar como se ve todo con los drivers genéricos nouveau y ¡voilá!!! No lo había visto antes, se me indica con LXRandR que mi resolución SÍ aplica para 1366x768, el escalado casi desaparece (no del todo pero todo se ve mucho mejor que con el driver privativo) pero se pierden los últimos píxeles al lado derecho... Ahora no sé si eliminar el fons-default que me suministró José Luis pero creo que esto no influye en lo que está ocurriendo, es más, es buen dato ya que fuerza a las fuentes para que se vean con buen dpi, más nítidas...

Y ese problema, que te sale la pantalla incompleta ya no es problema del driver de nvidia ni de Xorg, ese es problema del monitor, que lo puedes escalar de forma vertical, para que no pierdas nitidez y puedas ajustar el monitor en tamaño vertical.

aunque tendrías dos lineas negras arriba y abajo.

Y por favor no vuelvas a subir ese montón de texto, usa un pastebin para ello, Incluso ahora por favor quita ese texto, no es necesario, o en su efecto pegalo en un pastebin, y nos pones el link.

No logro ubicar como editar mi post anterior, disculpa. Creo que sólo puedo editar durante los siguientes 5 minutos.

En todo caso, ya lo coloqué en http://pastebin.com/xc0UrQfw tal como me lo sugeriste. Si puedes editarlo tú te lo agradezco.

Por favor, reitero, disculpa las "novatadas" en este foro. En serio, yo era un lector asiduo y nunca tuve problemas con Ubuntu hasta cuando decidí cambiar mi PC y comprarle el monitor actual. De hecho, incluso pude instalarle los drivers de una vieja impresora y todo lo demás va excelente.

Ahora bien, volviendo al tema en cuestión...

Estimado José Luis, lo que me indicas no lo puedo hacer porque la tarjeta creo que está enviando los 1366x768 pero se generan 1368 píxeles, ya he probado con todas las formas posibles de mover lo que se despliega en el monitor, hacerlo más pequeño, grande, etc., ¡nada!

La últimas 2 columnas de píxeles no se despliega, se están truncando...

Y mantiene un pequeño escalado, menos de cuando estaba usando los drivers privativos, la distorsión es menor pero aún se ve.

En efecto, verificando...

De acuerdo a este hilo hay más formas para obtener los datos que necesitas. Para empezar ya tienes uno que te da el driver noveau:

Modeline "1366x768" 85.50  1366 1436 1579 1792  768 771 774 798 +hsync +vsync

PD: Si vas a usar alguna página para pegar texto de preferencia usa http://paste.ubuntu.com/ .

PD2: La última imagen que colocaste tiene una resolución de 1361×768 por lo que: (a) sigue estando escalada para ocupar todo el ancho del monitor o (b) hay una parte en el monitor que no se muestra, una franja vertical de 5 pixeles apagados.

1361? WOW! Tienes razón. Quizás entonces se estén desplegando 1360 píx sobre 1366 (y por algún motivo la captura la realiza con un píxel más) lo que me pone a pensar más en el asunto... Seguiré, seguiré probando... Lo que sí, para la próxima, estaré más atento con las resoluciones al momento de comprar un monitor nuevo... Pero 1366 es un "estándar" que usan muchos netbooks, por ejemplo, muchos Acer Aspire One tienen esa resolución pero con su tarjeta Intel, yo lo tuve y cero problemas, incluso podía graduar el brillo, algo que leí tienen problemas muchos de esos equipos, yo nada de eso... En mi caso actual, mi PC trabaja con una NVidia, nunca pensé que con los drivers privativos hubiesen algunos problemas, de hecho, con el Windows va todo bien. Saludos.
