Se me queda colgado

Buenas, vereis tengo un P IV a 3Gh, 512 ram, 256 mg grafica etc... tengo instalada ubuntu y me va muy bien tambien tengo la aceleracion grafica puesta los programas que la requieren me van bien, pero el quake 3 una vez ke estoy dentro y llevo unos 2 minutos tocando o en juego o a la espera de entrar al server se me keda colgao :S, alguien sabe a que se puede deber?

a mi me pasa con Quake 3 nada mas, al principio no tenia sonido pero hice lo del "echo" que ponen arriba, y el juego ahora fuciona, pero al entrar a cargar el juego, arranca el 3d y se cuelga, y de ahy no pasa XD tengo que hacer uso de Ctl+alt+Back para reiniciar X . alguan idea ???

Yo llevo meses tratando de encontrar la solucion y solo encuentro esto....

Si alguien lo puede traducir se agradece .........XD

1. Make sure you've got aRts(I did by default in Ubuntu) installed. You'll soon know if you haven't.
2. Change your quake3 startup script (/usr/local/games/quake3 for me). Where it reads "./quake3.x86 $*" change it to to "artsdsp -m ./quake3.x86 $*"
3. Run 'artsd -F 6 -S 256', and keep it running...
4. Start Quake 3!

1) asegurate de tener Arts instalado (yo lo tuve por defecto en Ubuntu). Sabrás pronto si no lo tienes.
2) Cambia tu script 'quake3' de inicio (/usr/local/games/quake3 en mi caso). Donde se lea "./quake3.x86 $*" cambialo a "artsdsp -m ./quake3.x86 $*"
3) Ejecuta 'artsd -F 6 -S 256', y mantenlo corriendo...
4) Arranca Quake 3!

Suficiente??

En principio solo con quake y cuando lo pongo con sonido osea
ejecuto antes como root echo "quake3.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss uy despues ejecuto el juego asi ya tengo sonido pero al comenzar la partida se me queda blokeao, el sonido y por supuesto el juego congelado.

Eso justamente estaba pensando, en la temperatura, pero diciendo que solo le pasa con el quake no se no se.

Aunque cierto es, que mi me pasaba solo con el Doom 3.

Si averiguas lo que es, hazlo saber.

ojala no sea nada grave porque ubuntu me ha hecho dejar windows y me encanta, pero tambien me gusta quake 3 y no me gustaria tener que necesitar. otra vez.., windows.

Es cuestión del sonido, yo desactivo el sonido y me funciona muy bien, tenía un problema parecido en red hat enterprise linux, pero lo solucioné con el comando de "echo /proc/asoud..... etc..
