Aceleracion en los drivers ATI

Buenas a todos

Tengo una placa nforce3 con una ati X800Pro en AGP, soy novato en esto de linux (no tengo ni idea vamos) y me anime a probar ubuntu64 5.04 y la verdad que me esta gustando mucho esta distro, pero tengo un problema, he intentado por todas las maneras posible instalar los drivers de ati en mi equipo y no hay manera si no falla por una lado falla por el otro y ya me estoy desanimando (puede que sea porque soy muy torpe en esto). Haber si me podeis hechar un cable.

La primera vez que intente instalar los drivers lo hice a traves de estos foros y en el enlace:

con una instalacion recien formateada e instalada, junto con sus actualizaciones pero no hubo manera me salia un mensajito poniendo: glxgears: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

busque por internete informacion sobre este fallo, pero no saque nada en claro (vamos que ni puñetera idea), intente por varias veces arreglarlo pero no hubo manera (me carge el ubuntu), pero no me desanime, volvi a intentarlo de nuevo (soy un poco cabezon) y de una manera diferente que tambien saque de estos foros y de este enlace en concreto:

Instalar Perfectamente y a la primera Driver ATI

volvi a formatear y a instalar y a actualizar y la primera vez hice todos los pasos menos uno que fue el siguiente: sudo mv /lib/modules/'uname -r'/kernel/drivers/video/fglrx.ko $HOME

el ubuntu me funcionaba pero seguia sin tener aceleracion volvi otra vez a buscar por internet y a probar cosas y en la mayoria de los sitios ponia que habia que poner la linea anterior: sudo mv /lib/modules/'uname -r'/kernel/drivers/video/fglrx.ko $HOME

como ya no me funcionaba de ninguna manera (lo jodi otra vez) volvi otra vez a instalarlo todo de nuevo y a volver a actualizarlo otra vez y segui los pasos uno a uno sin saltarme ninguno. Pues bien ahora tengo un problemon porque no me arranca ubuntu, cuando va a entrar en la pagina que te pide el nombre de usuario y la contraseña, pues no se ve nada y no sale mas que cuadrados y colores, y de ahi no pasa, esto me ocurre cuando tengo el driver "fglrx" cuando lo cambio al driver "ati" pues funciona correctamente pero sin aceleracion, y he probado de todo y no funciona, haber si me podeis hechar una manita en esto, llevo dos semanas probando cosas y no consigo nada, haber si sabeis como arreglar los fallos que he comentado antes o alguna manera más facil o mejor explicado (vamos para torpes) de como instalar los drives de ati en ubuntu 5.04. Vamos que si tengo que volver otra vez a instalarlo todo y a actualizarlo pues se hace, total ya tamos acostumbrados.

Busca mensajes de error en el registro de las X (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) y publicalos para ver si podemos ayudarte.

Ok, esta tarde lo miro y lo pongo aqui, por cierto, se puede adjuntar archivos para que veais mi xorg.conf y mi Xorg.0.log??, o alguna manera de que veais estos archivos (enteros) para ver si esta algo mal??, no me manejo todavia muy bien en este foro.

Bueno, he sido capaz de arrancar el ubuntu pero sigo sin aceleracion, no hay manera, aqui pongo lo que tengo en el archivo xorg.conf, yo por lo que he visto esta bien, despues voy a poner el otro archivo el xorg.0.log. Y gracias por intentar ayudarme, ya no se me ocurre nada y como tampoco tengo mucha idea.

Ahora pongo el otro, aqui creo que estan los errores pero no tengo ni idea de como resolverlo. Tambien tengo que decir que he sido capaz de recuperar el sistema volviendo otra vez a copiar el fglrx.ko a la carpeta en donde estaba y desde ese momento ha vuelto otra vez a funcionar todo, la carpeta de donde lo quite era: /lib/modules/'uname -r'/kernel/drivers/video/ y como he dicho antes sin ese archivo en esa carpeta no me arrancaba el ubuntu, salia cuadraditos y colores y no entraba.

Ahí tienes el problema, la versión del módulo del kernel y la versión del controlador de xorg no son la misma. Seguramente hayas hecho una mezcla al intentar instalar por una parte el driver oficial de ati y por otra el que se encuentra disponible en los repositorios (que también es el de ati, pero una versión anterior).

Solución, desinstala los siguientes paquetes linux-restricted-modules y xorg-driver-fglrx y vuelve a intentar instalar el driver de la página de ati. (O al revés, desinstala el driver de la página de ati e instala el de los repositorios, pero vamos, deja solo uno :) )

Hola,

pos na, me volvi a cargar el ubuntu, no levanto cabeza. He vuelto otra vez a instalar todo de nuevo y ha empezar otra vez.

He leido tu post, entonces haber si me aclaro, si yo instalo un driver de la grafica, por ejemplo, el propietario de Ati de la manera que he puesto al principio del post yo tendria que desinstalar (si lo tuviera, acabo de formatear) todos los drivers anteriores y borrar sus directorios y archivos, y a parte tengo que desinstalar el paquete linux-restricted-modules antes de hacer nada, no se si me equivoco (corrigeme) y tendria que instalar los drivers bajados de la pagina de Ati y el linux-headers que haya. No se si me he explicado bien. Bueno lo volvere otra vez a intentar, que me puede pasar ya.

Vamos a ver, ya que has elegido el camino más difícil (reinstalar todo) vayamos por partes (como dijo Jack).

Para conseguir aceleración 3D tienes que instalar los drivers de ati; ahora bien, tienes dos opciones:

1) Bajas la última versión de la página de ati e instalas esa.
2) Utilizas la versión que hay en los repositorios; que no es la última, pero a mí me funciona correctamente.

Para la segunda opción tienes las instrucciones aquí (doy fe de que funcionan y que están bien explicadas).

Para la primera opción, te recomiendo que descargues el rpm, lo conviertas a deb con la utilidad alien, después lo instales y finalmente sigas las indicaciones de ati para terminar de instalarlo. Sí has hecho una nueva instalación no tendrás ni linux-restricted-modules ni xorg-driver-fglrx, así que no te preocupes por ellos en este caso.

Eso sí, elijas la que elijas, siguela hasta el final y no tendrás problemas.

Ya toi aqui otra vez, vamos a ver, poco a poco me estoy enterando, pero todavia tengo problemillas, he vuelto a instalarlo todo de nuevo y antes de hacer nada, sin actualizar ni instalar drivers he buscado el paquete linux-restricted-modules y encontre que estaban ya instalado cuando haces la instalacion desde un principio(¿?) asi que lo desinstale y baje el drivers de ati, con extension .rpm y lo instale como viene en el foro, hasta aqui ningun problema, todo bien que yo viera pero cuando reinicie no se me encendia los monitores y a base de probar y probar consegui entrar en ubuntu, pero la solucion para entrar fue cambiar esta linea en el xorg.conf:

Option "no_dri" "yes"

cuando esta linea la pongo a "no" me arranca el inicio, pongo el nombre de usuario, la contraseña y despues se bloquea y no pasa de ahi, no se porque, he seguido todos los pasos uno a uno y sin cambiar nada y no hay manera, hombre daria igual si tuviera aceleracion, pero claro no la tengo, voy a poner aqui alguno de los errores (creo que son errores) que me aparecen en Xofg.0.log:

Este es el primero que me da que no se ni pa lo q vale:

Este comentario es solo para que no te sientas solo, yo estoy con la kubuntu, que la monté empezando en ubuntu y cambiando repositorios.

Estoy con el Direct rendering : No
He echo todo lo aquí posteado (con links incluidos), y todo sigue igual.Así que seguirè probando.

Lo que no entiendo es porqué formateas tanto, yo lo he seguido todo sin apagar la màquina, solso Crl+Alt+Back-space y voy viendo cambios. Que no funciona?, pues vuelvo a copiar el xorg.conf.bak que tengo de la primera vez.

Lo he seguido a pelo, si me decia que no tengo permisos, pos le pongo el sudo. La qüestion es que al final tengo direct rendering YES.

Ya estoy aqui, despues de una dia de infierno con el ubuntu y la tarjeta grafica (el de ayer), voy a desistir con el tema de intentar instalar los drivers propietarios de ati, ya que como he comentado antes cuando va a entrar al escritorio se bloquea (por el dri, que no se que es) y cuando anulo el dri, entra pero no tengo aceleracion, vamos o una cosa o ninguna. Voy a intentar instalar lo que vienen con la propia distribucion a ver que tal y si soy capaz, espero que si porque quiero probar el 3ddesktop y pone que hay que tener aceleracion grafica.

Ahora otra cosilla que me ha surgido, que espero que me ayudeis como lo habeis estado haciendo, me pasa una cosa muy rara, las otras veces que he instalado el ubuntu y le he actualizado me salia que habia unos 160 megas aprox. de bajada para actualizarle y se ha hecho correctamente, pero ahora en esta nueva instalacion que he hecho y que no habia actualizado porque estaba liado con la tarjeta grafica se ha bajado 16 megas nada mas (el resto ni idea) y me da un error en una de las direcciones de un repositorio y me dice el ubuntu que el sistema esta al dia de actualizaciones cuando es mentira, por ejemplo, el firefox tengo el que viene por defecto que creo que es la version 1.0.2 y con muchas cosas igual. No se si es un error de ubuntu o ha sido mio, cosa que no creo porque no he tocado nada de nada, solamente el tema de la grafica.

Si no se puede conectar a uno de los repositorios, entonces no tendrá actualizada la lista de paquetes disponibles, con lo cual apt cree que no hay más actualizaciones.

Tienes dos opciones, esperar a que el mirror del repositorio que usas vuelva a funcionar, o utilizar otro mirror; en cualquier caso no hay ningún error por tu parte ni por la de Ubuntu.

Buenas,

para el primer problema del "match", tienes ke instalar la ultima version del kernel de los repositorios, de esa forma la version del modulo conincidira con el driver de las X.
Es decir, instala la ultima version del kernel, instala el driver de los repositorios.
para el segundo problema, el fglrx necesita del dri para la aceleracion, si se lo quitas no tienes aceleracion

Yo tengo un procesador de 64 bits y daba problemas, vi en un foro en ingles de Ubuntu la forma de instalarlo paso a paso (tienes que bajarte parches) y ya me va perfecto, cuando recupere el link lo pongo

Yo tengo un AMD64 con Ubuntu 5.10 para x86_64 y una ATI Radeon 9250 (256) y he seguido lo que más arriba se indica en el enlace http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=78466&highlight=ati que ha sido lo único que después de dar un montón de vueltas y cuelgues me ha funcionado. Al principio no me entraban la X con el segundo reseteo, y cuando he seleccionado para configurar "sudo fglrxconfig" en lugar de lo que había seleccionado antes "sudo aticonfig --initial", y dentro de las opciones, que utilice AGP GART, he puesto startx, y todo ha ido bien con la aceleración gráfica funcionando. Lo único que pasa es que glxgears no me da salida, pero las ruedas se mueven bien, ya averiguaré a qué velocidad en otra ocasión, sin embargo glxinfo me dice que sí está activada. Espero que esto ayude a otros que como yo están brujuleando en este tema y gracias a lviz, que colgó la dirección el 22/12/05 y que me ha permitido hacer lo que llevo un mesecito detrás de ello.

Esos avisos los puedes ignorar; como bien dices, el último es debido a que desactivas el dri.

Lo que me gustaría es que me pusieses los mensajes que aparecen cuando no se carga el servidor gráfico, cuando dejas activado el dri.

PD: Para que no te desanimes, te diré que ayer otro usuario con el mismo problema lo solucionó, así que verás como en un "plis" lo tienes funcionando.

Por propia experiencia de puedo asegurar que esto casi nunca es necesario en el mundo Linux. Yo era como tu (venía de windows) y tenía esa manía de formatear, pero de veras que no hace falta. Si hay problemas con el entorno gráfico, siempre funciona el de texto (hay que quitarse el miedo a la consola), y si no, puedes probar con otro entorno (KDE, icevw, etc...).

Haz una copia de seguridad del xorg.conf y dejala en tu home. De ese modo si algo te casca:

sudo mv /~/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf

y volverás a tener las X funcionando.

Otra cosa, ¿has visitado la página de ATI? puede que sus drivers si te funcionen.

para el primer caso creo que tenias que hacer
sudo aptitude install libGL.so.1
sino haces sudo aptitude search libGL.so.1 quitando letras como el 1 y así hasta encontar aunque creo que podias instalarlo sin más(que era así)
